The other day my airsoft buddies and I were discussing which was more fun, the old days with cheap spring pistols or today with our 250 + FPS automatic weapons? It was an interesting discussion. Back in the day, two years ago, the games we played were a lot different. We played in the streets around our houses then . The people on our block were used to seeing us duck behind their cars and hiding in their back yards. You didn’t worry back then of getting shot by someone from halfway up the block. It was like old school gangster wars, you had to creep right up on somebody to get a kill.

As time went on everyone started getting better and better weapons . The Echo 1′s and Classic Army rifles started being used and the games changed . The most obvious change was people were more honest about calling their hits. The old spring guns didn’t really sting when you got hit. So some guys wouldn’t admit to getting shot . When the high powered airsoft guns were being used people called their hits quickly and loudly . The reason? They stung like hell ! You called the hit just so the other guy would stop shooting you.

It was fun shooting the better guns, but it came with a price. We were bouncing BB’s off the side of peoples houses , pinging them off of cars . Guys were comparing welts on their backs . The smaller kids on the block were diving for cover . The parents of these kids were looking at these real life looking guns with more scrutiny .

Lucky for us , we have a nearby woods. So that’s where the games eventually moved . We now play far away from the houses. We have adapted to guns that can hit us from 150 feet, ducking for cover at the mere site of an enemy player. Don’t get me wrong, I love the games we play today. But it is never the same as the days when airsoft was new to us.

As a result of the conversation, we have decided to play spring games once and awhile. Sometimes on the block and sometimes in the woods. It’s fun to go back to the tactics we used when we first started. Who says you can’t turn back time?

Planning a Make-over?

You can outfit your airsoft gun inside and out. Whether you want better performance or parts replacement, you can get the right airsoft parts. The convenience of shopping for airsoft parts online makes it also easier for you to compare prices, and avail of discounted offers.

Majority of airsoft parts are manufactured in China, Taiwan, and Japan. The airsoft parts cater to all makes and designs of airsoft firearms; so getting one for your airsoft model will be fast and trouble-free. You will only have to be sure of what you want for your airsoft gun.

Before giving your airsoft rifle or handgun a make-over, have a ready plan: when to upgrade, what to upgrade, and how much you are going to spend. When doing the upgrading yourself have all airsoft parts ready. If you are not sure about your competence, get a pro to help you, or show you how it is done.

What Are These Airsoft Parts?

There are airsoft parts for internal and external upgrades. For internal upgrades, there are gearboxes and parts, cylinder pistons, and piston heads, bushings, gears and gear sets, springs and guides, nozzles, hop up rubber sets, motor barrels, inner barrels and other internal parts. For externals you can choose metal parts, optics, silencers, flash hiders, and much more.

Viewing those airsoft parts online can give you a better idea about overhauling your airsoft gun. If you are keen on replacing parts of your Tokyo Marui AK47, start with the gearbox. Perhaps you are aware that the limitations of the velocity of Japanese made airsoft guns are legal in nature not a flaw in design.

The gearbox is large enough to accommodate a bigger 8.4 volt battery. With a speed of 285 fps, your gun’s magazine will be tough enough to hold 68 bbs. Since this gun can switch from semi to full automatic, you will now have a powerful gun after you upgrade the gearbox. In most cases, before you do any upgrading you must have the complete airosoft parts.

Do-It-Yourself

You will need a Systema/Areal1000 metal bushings, hop up bucking, Guarder 50% ball bearings, Guarder Shim and Shim Set. You will be working on springs so get a PDI 150% Spring if you want more speed and velocity. You will be using several screwdrivers, which you can buy from the local hardware.

Go over instructional manuals carefully, and be sure you remove the battery before any disassembling. It will be practical to have ready containers for the tiny screws and bolts.

Upgrade Your Look

If you have done your airsoft rifle a service with airsoft parts, how about getting the latest protective gear for yourself? The vest, SWAT helmet, goggles and sunglasses, arm and leg holsters, and combat boots will give you the protection and appropriate look in your next battle.

You should also update yourself on the local regulations on airsoft firearms, and ensure that you store your guns out of the reach of children.

Many people often wonder what the differences are between gas airsoft sniper rifles and spring airsoft rifles. Besides the obvious fact that one is powered by a spring, and one is powered by gas, there are actually some other important factors as well. But above all else, it is fair to say that the biggest difference between gas and spring powered airsoft rifles is usually the price. For example, a good spring airsoft sniper guns usually costs about $100 – $125, while a good gas airsoft guns generally costs about $175 or more in most cases.

Also, another important thing to consider about gas airsoft guns is the fact that they almost always shoot at a higher velocity than a spring airsoft sniper rifle. Generally the higher end spring airsoft sniper rifles shoot at around 450 FPS, while the gas airsoft rifles usually shoot at 500 to 550 FPS. It is also worth noting that a bolt action gas airsoft gun is much easier to cock than a spring powered rifle; this is because with a gas airsoft gun there is no heavy duty spring to cock back for each shot. You still have to pull back the bolt with a gas powered rifle, but it is much easier to operate.

Another very important thing to consider is the fact that all spring rifles are single shot only, meaning that they have to be cocked for each and every shot, while a gas powered airsoft sniper rifle can be semi automatic. However, many of the gas sniper rifles are still made as single shot bolt action rifles, which makes them much more realistic. And again, the single shot gas powered airsoft rifles are much easier to cock than the spring airsoft rifles. This may not seem very significant, but it can definitely make a difference in airsoft games where you end up doing a lot of shooting. You would not want your arm to become tired during an airsoft battle!

As far as accuracy goes, most people will agree that the accuracy of a spring airsoft rifle is pretty much the same as gas airsoft sniper rifles, but there may be a few that disagree. There isn’t much evidence to really support any differences in accuracy between the 2 types of airsoft rifles, but it is safe to say that you should most likely be using slightly heavier airsoft BBs with a gas powered airsoft sniper rifle, due to the fact that they usually shoot at a significantly higher FPS than the spring powered airsoft rifles. The faster an airsoft gun shoots, the heavier the BB you will want to use, to achieve maximum accuracy. This is especially true at longer distances.

Conclusion? If you have the extra money you may want to consider a gas airsoft sniper rifle, as they shoot a bit faster than the spring airsoft sniper rifles, and are easier to cock as well. However, the spring airsoft rifles are certainly an excellent choice if you don’t want to spend the extra money, and it is arguable that they are a bit more durable than the gas airsoft rifles. Also, if you want a semi automatic airsoft rifle, then spring airsoft sniper rifles are not for you, as they are single shot only.

Fully automatic guns are extremely easy to use, as you only need to hold the trigger down and keep firing. These guns usually have a 1:3 scale. They require 4 AA Batteries that are not included with the package. They are safer than their manual counterparts; they are equipped with a spring safety switch. They fire 12g BB pellets (6mm soft air pellets), usually at 150 FPS and have a range of about 15-40 feet. Their capacity is usually 75 rounds.

Fully automatic air soft guns are made of durable ABS plastic, which is the best for enhanced durability. These guns are fully automatic but can be used as a single shot, if you hold the trigger for one second. For loading these guns with ammunition, you need to pull back a little slide on the rear side. The batteries go in the handle and the safety switch is given on the side of the gun that won’t let you fire unless you press it, thereby enhancing the security aspect. These guns come generally packed with 100 pellets, but manufacturers throw in more to forge ahead in the face of stiff competition.

Quality and durability are guaranteed with branded guns, though they are costlier. UHC is the market leader in Airsoft guns, but other companies also have comparable and, sometimes, even better models. Reviews are a great source of information about these guns. If you intend to buy a costly Airsoft automatic, it is a good idea to do some ground research on the same, before shelling out money. Also, different automatics use different pellet sizes, all of which may not be available in the market. You should go in for an automatic, where the pellets are easily available.

Thus, Airsoft guns are great products that appeal both to young ones as toys and to others as great collectible items.
